	„Different, but together“ lautete der Aufruf der Schriftstellerin und Aktivistin Audre Lorde, die sich oft mit folgendem Satz vorstellte: „I am a Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet doing my work, coming to ask you if you’re doing yours.“ (Ich bin Schwarze, Lesbe, Mutter, Kriegerin, Poetin, mache meine Arbeit und komme, um zu fragen, ob ihr eure macht.). In Lordes Selbstbeschreibung wird deutlich, dass Kategorien wie Gender, Ethnizität und Klasse immer miteinander verwoben sind und zusammenwirken. Die Reihe Different, but together möchte diese Überkreuzungen von sozialen Ungleichheiten, Machtverhältnissen und Privilegien anerkennen und analysieren, um gemeinsam eine kritische und transformative Praxis zu denken und zu gestalten. Die Auseinandersetzung mit bewussten und unbewussten Wirkmechanismen von Alltagsrassismus und institutionellem Rassismus eröffnet neue Blickweisen auf uns selbst sowie auf unsere Umwelt. Wir möchten zuhören, diskutieren und lernen – von Stimmen, die uns von erlebten und durchkämpften Erfahrungen erzählen: von Gewalt, Selbstermächtigung und Widerstand. Lungomare lädt Künstler_innen und Kurator_innen ein, die in ihrer Praxis postkoloniale, feministische und repräsentationskritische Perspektiven mit antirassistischen Kämpfen der Gegenwart verbinden.   Kuratiert von Angelika Burtscher und Marion Oberhofer

„Che razza di rap“ ist ein literarisches Hip-Hop-Experiment, das vom Leben derer erzählt, die sich zwischen mehreren Kulturen bewegen, den so genannten Kindern der zweiten Generation, Mestiz_innen, neuen Italiener_innen und Afro-Italiener_innen. Eine audiovisuelle Reise, die in der Unbeschwertheit der Kindheit beginnt und dann mit der scheinbaren Unzulänglichkeit des eigenen Seins, der eigenen Identität kollidiert. Gerappt wird darüber, was es bedeutet, ein_e Ausländer_in in Italien und ein_e Tourist_in in Marokko zu sein, und wie Rap als Reisebegleiter zu Bewusstsein und Erlösung führt. Für die Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung muss der Green Pass vorgelegt werden.

Gemeinsam mit Anton Lederer und Margarethe Makovec, dem Leitungsteam von < rotor > aus Graz reflektieren und diskutieren wir kuratorische Praxen als Auseinandersetzung mit Ein- und Ausschlüssen. Wie können wir Privilegien anerkennen, verlernen und (mit-)teilen? Welche Konflikte müssen im kuratorischen und künstlerischen Prozess ausgetragen und vorangetrieben werden, um dominante Erzählungen und Gewaltverhältnisse offenzulegen und zu verändern?

	17.06.2021 19 Uhr Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński Unearthing. In Conversation (2017)

 

Unearthing. In Conversation (2017) nimmt Ausgang in der Auseinandersetzung mit im 20. Jahrhundert entstandenen Fotografien des österreichisch-tschechischen Missionars, Autors und Ethnologen Paul Schebesta (1887-1967). In ihrem Film entspinnt Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński einen mehrschichtigen Dialog – untersucht Blickregime, die Alltäglichkeit kolonialer Gewalt, sowie künstlerische Strategien des Umgangs mit derselben. Verwurzelt in Schwarzer feministischer Theorie, arbeitet die Künstlerin mit einer recherchebasierten und prozessorientierten investigativen Praxis, welche sich mit Archiven – im Speziellen den Lücken und Leerstellen in öffentlichen Sammlungen und Archiven – auseinandersetzt. Mit der Verbindung von Dokumentarischem und Fiktionalem legt sie dabei die Gegenwärtigkeit einer andauernden kolonialen Vergangenheit frei.

	"Different, but together" era l’invito della scrittrice e attivista Audre Lorde, che spesso si presentava usando la seguente frase: „I am a Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet doing my work, coming to ask you if you’re doing yours.“ (Sono una nera, lesbica, madre, guerriera, poetessa che sta facendo il suo lavoro e che viene a chiederti se tu stai facendo il tuo). Nell'autodescrizione di Lorde, è chiaro che categorie come genere, etnia e classe sono sempre intrecciate e tra loro interagenti. La serie Different, but together cerca di prendere atto e di approfondire queste intersezioni di disuguaglianze sociali, rapporti di potere e privilegi per poter riflettere e costruire insieme una pratica critica e trasformativa. Il confronto con i meccanismi consci e inconsci del razzismo quotidiano e istituzionale consente di aprire nuove prospettive su noi stessi e sul nostro ambiente. Vogliamo ascoltare, discutere e imparare - da voci che ci parlano di esperienze vissute e combattute: di violenza, di auto-emancipazione e di resistenza. Lungomare invita artiste/i e curatrici/curatori la cui pratica unisce prospettive post-coloniali, femministe e rappresentative con le lotte antirazziste contemporanee.                    Curato da Angelika Burtscher e Marion Oberhofer

"Che razza di rap" è un esperimento di hip-hop letterario che racconta la vita di chi si muove tra più culture, i cosiddetti figli della seconda generazione, i meticci, i nuovi italiani e gli afro-italiani. Un viaggio audiovisivo che inizia con la spensieratezza dell'infanzia per poi scontrarsi con l'apparente inadeguatezza del proprio essere, della propria identità. Racconta cosa significa essere straniera o straniero in Italia e turista in Marocco, e come il rap come compagno di viaggio porti alla consapevolezza e al riscatto. Per partecipare all'evento è necessario presentarsi con il green pass.

Insieme ad Anton Lederer e Margarethe Makovec, direttori di < rotor > (Graz), riflettiamo e mettiamo in discussione le pratiche curatoriali a proposito di inclusione ed esclusione. Come possiamo riconoscere, disimparare e (co-)condividere i privilegi? Quali conflitti devono essere combattuti e portati avanti nel processo curatoriale e artistico per rivelare e cambiare le narrazioni dominanti e le relazioni di violenza?

	17.06.2021 ore 19 Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński Unearthing. In Conversation (2017)

 

Unearthing. In Conversation (2017) parte da un'esplorazione delle fotografie scattate nel XX secolo dal missionario, autore ed etnologo austro-ceco Paul Schebesta (1887-1967). Nel suo film, Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński apre un dialogo a più livelli - esaminando i regimi di sguardo, la quotidianità della violenza coloniale e le strategie artistiche per affrontarla. Radicata nella teoria femminista nera, l'artista lavora con una pratica investigativa basata sulla ricerca e orientata al processo, e si confronta con gli archivi - in particolare con le lacune e i vuoti nelle collezioni e negli archivi pubblici. Combinando la documentazione e la finzione, evidenzia la presenza di un passato coloniale permanente.

	"Different, but together" was the call of writer and activist Audre Lorde, who often introduced herself with the following phrase: "I am a Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet doing my work, coming to ask you if you're doing yours,". In Lorde's self-description, it becomes clear that categories such as gender, ethnicity and class are always interwoven and interact. The Different, but together series aims to acknowledge and analyse these intersections of social inequalities, power relations and privilege in order to think and shape a critical and transformative practice together. The confrontation with conscious and unconscious mechanisms of everyday and institutional racism opens up new perspectives on ourselves and our environment, creating space for action. We want to listen, discuss and learn - from voices that tell us about lived and fought through experiences: of violence, self-empowerment and resistance. "Che razza di rap" is an experiment of literary hip-hop that narrates the life of those who move between several cultures, the so-called children of the second generation, the mestizos, the new Italians and the Afro-Italians. It is an audiovisual journey that begins with the carefreeness of childhood and then clashes with the apparent inadequacy of one's own being and identity. It tells what it means to be a foreigner in Italy and a tourist in Morocco, and how rap as a travelling companion leads to awareness and redemption. To take part at the event it is necessary to show up with the green pass.

Together with Anton Lederer and Margarethe Makovec, the leadership team of < rotor > from Graz, we reflect on and discuss curatorial practices as a confrontation with inclusion and exclusion. How can we recognise, unlearn and (co-)share privileges? Which conflicts have to be fought out and pushed forward in the curatorial and artistic process in order to reveal and change dominant narratives and relations of violence?

Unearthing. In Conversation (2017) takes its starting point in an exploration of photographs taken in the 20th century by the Austro-Czech missionary, author and ethnologist Paul Schebesta (1887-1967). In her film, Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński unravels a multi-layered dialogue - examining gaze regimes, the everydayness of colonial violence, and artistic strategies for dealing with it. Rooted in Black feminist theory, the artist works with a research-based and process-oriented investigative practice that engages with archives - specifically the gaps and voids in public collections and archives. By combining the documentary and the fictional, she exposes the presence of an ongoing colonial past.
